Well we just got back from the Dr’s.. mostly ok news..they are worried about the upper lip where his teeth went thru, mostly worried about possible infection so we need to be vigilant with that.. also turns out his finger IS broke..lovely..so glad the hospital caught that when we were there and so glad they never bothered to call and tell us @@…so he’s all splinted up and such. next stop is the concussion clinic!

Well what a day..remember THIS post in March about Noah’s helmet?..if not go read it.. it’s important..then come back and see why.
Ya see today.. Noah and I spent 4 hours in the ER…apparently his bike decided he need to vacate the premises rather fast and the road broke his fall.. he got messed up..rather nastily.. But again.. remember that post? Well he DID learn his lesson that day, and what was a very bad crash was kept from being a life altering crash because of his helmet. This is what Noah’s face looks like:

You can’t see the scrapped up shoulder, road rash arm, the 2 front teeth that went straight through his lip , the scrapped fingers and jammed finger.. or the bad concussion he has.He may end up glowing from the Cat Scan and x rays…. He’s messed up.He’s missing his Cast Party, a friends party, a concert, the July 4th road race..but he’s going to be ok because of that helmet. I feel so terrible for my baby, but the Dr said, repeatedly that had he NOT had his helmet on..well things would have been much worse. So PLEASE.. be one of “those parents” that requires helmets… because Noah has proven they really do work!
Also..if your already one of those parents.. or plan to become one ..take a minute to read this on the proper fit and wear of a helmet..too many kids are wearing ones not fastened, ones too loose ,too big, too small..all of which will NOT protect them..a new helmet is $20..your child’s life is priceless.
Thanks to some great ladies at the Lapbooking Yahoo group I am now into making these “mini classrooms”..wow what a GREAT idea!! I’ve been wanting some way to give the kids a little “special” thing of their own, a way to make their own work space without having to make it a huge ordeal..and this is perfect! Now this isn’t “answer’s” ..it’s simply reference points, reminders etc, same things you may see in a Public School classroom on the walls.
This is our first, it’s basically a general one, I am in the process of making one for each subject ( math, LA ,History and Science) for Declan and for Noah. Ziah will get a general one only this year and then as Declan moves on she can receive the ones he’s used and we can girly them up for sure!
I have a little space still to add to it once I decide what else I may want, and I plan to put contact paper over it once I make it more personal looking..but for now here it is!

Today we tried a new art project… Sharpie Tie Dye! WOW this was super easy, clean and FUN. I do advise you wait for a nice day and do the alcohol spray outside though..lol.
The supplies:( missing from picture is the rubbing alcohol, golf balls and Ziah)

the process… put various golf, tennis etc balls under a white shirt, secure with rubberbands, also feel free to twist, tie etc.. then let the kids go with their colorful imaginations!

The results:( use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle)
Taejan’s before spraying:

After:

Ziah spraying hers:

Declan spraying his:

they are all finishing up air drying then it’s into the dryer to be heat set .. I promise to post pictures after that!!
