~Update..the schoolroom has moved..for new pictures come visit this posting. ~

Well I’ve been very busy the last few days organizing all our “stuff” for the new school year. My office/schoolroom needed a full overhaul and I had LOTS of curriculum to sort through. Well except for making a few more file folder games for the kids I am done and just about ready to go..wanna see the room?

Here’s the door.. lol..I have my “chore” list and Noah’s posted here:

Now this is NOT a big room.. not at all..but we’ve made it work..

view from the doorway:

view from the other corner:

ok on to the tour:

this is what you see when you open the door. All my various “flash cards” I use on the Portable Circle Time ( updated pictures coming VERY soon) as well as the kids on the run backpacks..and yes my vacuum.

This is the closet door..

inside the very messy closet ( can’t believe I am even showing this..ugh). On the top shelf is various board games and the Wii boxes..LOL. The on a wall thing are craft supplies and on the corner shelves ae play doh, colored glue and various supplies. The bookcase things has school books I am passing on, stuff to grow into, the kids pencils boxes, my MP3 speakers. The roll cart has office supplies, pre made crafts and science stuff..alongside 9 not shown) are variuos science kits I’ve gotten on clearance and am waiting to need.

Next..small shelves with lots of games, hands on items, science kits etc, then Ziah’s personal Learning poster:

Next bookcase #1 with all our various readers and Taejan’s coloring books, on top are all sorts of educational puzzles about countries, animals etc:

2nd bookcase: On top is my “paper center” with all my colored paper for lapbooks as well as construction paper. I also keep my laminatin sheets, clip boards and such on that.

On the shelves. Top one is Noah’s, has all his curic for the year ( remember he uses a computer based one for a few subjects). Next is Declan’s VERY full shelf, then the bottom one is Ziah’s.

3rd bookcase with all our reference books that are not pertaining to a certain curic we are using right away.. ok most I have a bookcase in the livingroom with some also. Also our Quizard and a few odds and ends.

The kids table for doing their work ( well not Noah of course ). Also on the wall is a hanging plastic thing that has 3 spaces, I put the kids work(each has their one space) in there after they’ve done it and let it stack up all week, then sort it and place what I want in their portfolio’s.

My file cabinets. Each kiddo has a drawer with their items for use during this schoolyear like Lapbooks, notebooking pages etc. Then the 3 drawer one has resources stuff, things we finished and future use ( like not this year but sometime in the future)

The you can see the 2 shelves Eric built. I have my lapbooks stored up on the top one, my color printer, laminator and various computer parts, the bottom has more learning games, chess and such. On top the file cabinets I have my hanging folders, file folders and my Artistic Pursuits box. Also that’s where I store the Portable Circle Time.

Here’s the computer desk,my laser printer, my shelves with empty 3 ring binders, all the kids portfolios, variuos full binders that don’t fit or belong on their active subject shelves, more toner, my planner, games, MUS dvd’s etc…

We also have a free standing cabinet thing with shelves I use for the bulk of the craft items and I have a great bench in the living room I store any lapbook/pocketbook or unit study items if we are currently working on one! I can already feel the need to ask my DH to build me a few more shelves..especially since in another year Taejan will be doing actual work!!!

Great job. You’ve inspired me. I started our school room a few weeks ago. Now I will get it done this week. Your closet is not messy at all. Thanks for sharing. I love your organization ideas like the clear plastic on the wall to put their work during the week. I may try that.

It looks great and has inspired me to keep going with our little space here, it can be done! If I could just get my dh to put up some shelves…hmmmm, might have to show him your pix. ;) Thanks for sharing!

Hi! I’m from your lapbook email list. What a nice room you have! I wish my kids were that young again. ENJOY EVERY second…they go by WAY too fast! We have our first graduate this past year, and we have five short years to go. What a pleasant, and cheery room you have!
