We enter another week…

So we are about to begin another week with no job, no unemployment and no sign of a job in sight. Eric’s been gone from his job for 7 weeks..things are just..well..we’re alive, we’re healthy ( good thing since we have no health insurance)..we have basic food..but that’s it..

We had a get together last night..as we always do on Saturday’s..this week we had a full house( well backyard)..it was a very nice distraction from the crappy crap . Of course today it was back to reality..I did Eric’s filing for his unemployment online..and as always we get the “your claim is being processed” message..processes the dang thing..please!!!

We haven’t done much schooling.. I have been busy getting programs ready for the studio’s recital..and my heart just hasn’t been in the learning.. We’ll get back full force this week as by tonight the programs will be ready to go to the printer!

Let’s see.. we’ve kept busy with free stuff. baseball games, downtown street fair, picnics with friends.. oh my brand new cell died..but it was replaced for free..Taejan broke my nose by accident..lovely and ouch…it now sit more to the left then it used to.. this have been up and down..ebbing and flowing..

We’re trying to stay as positive as we can…Since I am not exactly a positive optimistic person..it’s hard…but we’re doing the best we can right? The toughest part has been not being able to get certain “basic’s”..sigh.. I am glad my kids are so easy going and aren’t kids that NEED things..

Wednesday is Eric’s birthday.. luckily we don’t exchange gifts anyway so not being able to get him anything isn’t a huge deal.

So we’re here..we’re dealing, it’s tough..I want a sign things are going to turn around..before we start having utilities and crap shut off… keep us in your thoughts and prayers please..

Another week begins

We had a very busy weekend..dance/karate and very long birthday party..friends over for dinner then the usual Saturday night fire. Yesterday was me..typing.. trying to get all the recital stuff done!

Today begins another week..or so I’m told. For us weekends are different that for most..we still school if need be.Noah’s IN school so that defines the days slightly more..but especially now with Eric out of work..weekends are not as different from the rest of the days for us.

Speaking of that..yup..still no luck on the job front..there is just nothing out there in his field..or the few things that are are entry level pay and that is just not a pay cut we can take. Of course we still have no Unemployment..we have upwards of 4 weeks to go before we will see a payment.. this week will be the last week we will be “ok” without a Thursday paycheck.. once this week is over things will get very tight and scary around here..sigh..praying..praying hard something gives.

We have a pretty normal week…dance x3,karate x6, swim x3.schooling etc.. maybe even getting the waterslide up for the first time at the end of the week..it will be warmer..so we’ll see. Oh and lessons..yup..we’ll get that learning in too! I have 2 more full programs to get typed up.. plan to get one done today…let’s hope the kids cooperate..

Ahhhh..lessons!

Along with all the fun we’ve had we have also gotten a lot of learning in…

Declan built this castle.. he submitted the picture to Lego.com..

yest again the learning area has been rearranged. The downstairs school room is no more.. it’s all been moved to the sunroom. The now “spare” room is being turned into a guest/game room ( hint Chandra.. hint hint hint) .In the transition a lot of activities that the kids haven’t seen in a few are back out and being used daily!

I had gotten some cool File Folder games when we were at Chandra’s..I got them all laminated and Taejan and Ziah are fully enjoying them!

Here’s the littles on practicing their writing.Ziah is such a perfectionist.. not sure who she gets that from…

Here’s Taejan’s first time writing his name..he had a little help..but not a ton..not bad for a 3.5 year old with a tough name!

Ziah working on her Explode the Code book 1..slowly but surely she’s getting this whole reading thing:

Declan working hard on..something..I can’t tell what..but it must have been tough as it required a snack and drink at hand..lol

one very icky rainy windy day the kids were so sick of being inside..so I broke down and made a ton of Ooblek..

this stuff is messy ( especially when 3 kids play with it) but FUN!

Declan’s new math came.. the new format is cool..although he did think it was a cookbook at first..LOL..

he started it yesterday and already blew thru 2 full lessons.. apparently my worries abotu the 7 year old being ready for multiplication were unfounded!

Miss Ziah working on lesson 2 of her EtC book:

and Declan doing his history/social studies/handwriting and Art all via Draw Write Now.

For science we’ve been doing stuff with the sun..

here’s Declan with his solar glasses..these allow him to look directly at the sun without hurting his eyes!

Yup..they work!

using a diffraction grating disc to create rainbows inside and outside:

So that’s more or less what’s been up here. Things are not nearly as hectic as they once were . In a way this layoff will prove as a “blessing”.. we have had to turn down many invites to parties or picnic’s and get togethers.. gas/food to bring and such is just no longer in the budget. This is ok though..we are spending even more good time together and getting back to basic’s. Slowing down life is never a bad thing.

In just 5 weeks the PS year will be over and Noah will be home , and I will be watching a friends little boy everyday..that’s busy enough for me!

Parks,the lake,the forest, a dog and more!

Let’s see..life at the academy has been good. We finished up all the kids school years..and began the next.. yup..no summer breaks for my kids.. I know I am mean..but hey why ever stop learning?

So in between lessons we had park day with some friends:

a bike ride to the lake:

we spent two afternoons at the State Forest playing in the water..

Meet Scout.. we met him friday when he wandered in our yard..he stayed for about 4.5 hours while we hoped to find his owners.. alas we had no luck ( people..tag your dogs PLEASE)..so he had to go to the pound. We checked on him the next day and he had already gone home which was good!

then we went to another park with Robin and the kids..another great afternoon!

Taejan has discovered he loves to vacuum..it’s so cute!

And we’ve played outside in the yard a lot..love the “nice” weather!

A trip to the Museum!

May is FREE month at our local museum. With our new situation FREE is the way to be. I haven’t been to the museum since they redid it last year ( Eric and the kids have).  So Saturday after dance and karate we headed over.

Digging for bones..still a favorite activity for them!

some of the additions to the museum are little spaces for the kids to..be kids. This is one area our little museum was lacking before..but not anymore!

Declan loved all the bird and bug things..as always!

Taejan jumped up here and declared “OH WOW COOL”:

These next pictures are of the new Hall of Innovation. I was very impressed with this new space.. my kids loved it !

Declan was listening to a narrative about Slavery..which prompted a whole new study about the Civil War at home!

When we had come in the gentlemen at the desk told us it would be feeding time downstairs a in about an hour. So when the time came we wandered down there and the kids enjoyed the fish and animals:

When feeding time came they got to watch:

and Taejan got to HELP!

after that fun we went up to the 2nd floor of the museum:

another great spot for the kids to be kids!

We will be back another day in May for certain!
